Frequently asked
How accurate is the Plant Doctor?
It ranks probable causes — not a definitive diagnosis. Without seeing the plant, no tool can be 100% accurate. The AI applies family-specific priors (e.g., succulents weigh overwatering 2-3× higher than tropicals) and multi-symptom intersection, which sharpens accuracy considerably for common problems. Expect to apply the most-likely fix first; if no improvement in 2 weeks, try the next ranked cause.
Why does it ask for at least 2 symptoms?
Single-symptom diagnosis is unreliable — yellow leaves alone could be five different causes. Combining symptoms (yellow leaves + mushy stem → almost certainly root rot) narrows the cause sharply.
My plant is not in the list — what do I do?
We currently cover 52 of the most popular houseplants. If your plant is not listed, pick one in the same family — diagnostic priors are family-based, so a closely related plant gives you nearly the same accuracy. Or post a photo on r/houseplants.
Will photo upload be supported?
Yes — coming soon. Upload a photo of a leaf, stem, root, or whole plant for visual diagnosis. The architecture is already in place; we are gathering more reference images before launching the photo flow.
Are the affiliate product links the only fix options?
No. The product links are convenience suggestions tied to common fixes (e.g., perlite for drainage, neem oil for pests). The fix steps work without buying anything new — most problems are fixed by changing watering, lighting, or location.
